Apply using the Applicant Portal

The Apply Now button on the right will take you to the Applicant Portal. There, you can create and submit your application and supporting documents, and you can also request your references.

An application is only complete when:

  1. you have submitted your application and supporting documents via the Applicant Portal
  2. you have paid the application fee if applicable. For further information on application fees, and which courses require an application fee, see here.
  3. your referees have provided their references.

If you miss the deadlines specified in this section, you will not be able to submit your application.

The application will ask applicants to make a selection of modules from the current syllabus, choose a research theme and propose a brief research project proposal of no more than 400 words. The project proposal and module selection will help the MPhil admissions panel to identify potential supervisors and are indicative only. The Faculty is under no obligation to accept a project proposed in the questionnaire for the examination of the MPhil in Advanced Computer Science. The syllabus changes from year to year and the modules selected may not be offered in the year of admission. Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to change their selections when the new syllabus is published in July before the start of the course.

Selection Process

Applications are considered as a gathered field. Applicants who have applied by 3 December 2024 and who pass the first stage of the scrutiny process may be interviewed in January 2025. Applicants who are not shortlisted for January interviews may be wait-listed for interview in the second phase in March and April.

Applicants who have applied after 3 December 2024, but before the February deadline, and who pass the first stage of the scrutiny process may be interviewed during  April 2025. Interviews are usually by telephone or video-conference, and are conducted by one or two members of the team of course advisers.

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.
